The Port St Johns Youth Centre was founded by Solomon Bam with other eight students from Port St Johns Senior Secondary School after responding to a call of which Mr Bam made to the students to start a Youth group. Students came together on a certain Friday to play games such as Amazing race. During break at School students would sit together and share their experiences among each other. This initiative attracted a large number of students from Port St Johns High School alone and the group grew tremendously. Port St Johns Youth Centre in the past three years has been working in five selected areas of Port St Johns local Municipality. Through its Career guidance program the organization partnered with 5 Secondary schools out of 14 and 10 combined out of 74. On our 2014/2015 financial year plan we are planning to reach the entire Municipality.

Port St Johns Youth Centre seeks to address the overall problem of generational gap in the community of Port St Johns where children are being parented by their grandparents or great-grandparents.
